Chase offers a checking account called Chase Secure Banking. The account comes with a Chase debit card that gets you access to over 16,000 fee-free ATMs.

Some features of this checking account include free online bill pay, free money orders and cashier’s checks, no overdraft fees, and no minimum opening deposit. However, there is also a monthly service fee of $4.95.

When you open a Chase Secure Banking account and make 10 qualifying purchases within 60 days, you’ll get a $100 cash bonus.

Bank of Montgomery

Bank of Montgomery uses Telecheck when verifying new accounts. It has three locations throughout Louisiana in Montgomery, Alexandria, and Natchitoches. It has seven checking accounts for members to choose from.

Most applicants will likely be more interested in the Economy option, as it only requires a $100 initial deposit and a minimum balance of $500. If your account falls below $500, there’s a monthly service fee of $7.50.

Regardless of which checking account you choose, all members get access to unlimited check writing, free online banking, and free mobile banking. The free mobile app allows members to view their account balance, make transfers, and remote deposit checks.

Community Bank of Louisiana

Community Bank of Louisiana does not use ChexSystems or EWS, but it does require a form of government-issued ID.

Community Bank offers seven checking accounts. For its traditional checking account, there’s a $7 fee if your account falls below $1,000.

However, if you keep an account with them for five years or more, there is no service fee regardless of how much money you have in your account.

It currently has eight locations throughout Louisiana: Stonewall, Shreveport, Mansfield, Logansport, Gloster, and Bossier City.

Home Bank

Home Bank has locations all throughout southern Louisiana and uses Telecheck when screening new applications. It currently offers three types of checking accounts, Choice Checking, Interest Checking, and eBanking Checking.

All of these options come with the following perks:

Each account requires an initial deposit of $100, but the monthly service is different for each. For Choice Checking, the monthly service fee is $8, for eBanking it’s $5, and for Interest, it’s $10.

Choice Checking provides more ATM access, as account holders can get $10 cashback if they visit a surcharge ATM.

La Capitol Federal Credit Union

La Capitol FCU has four locations throughout Baton Rouge, Hammond, and Houma, Louisiana. Instead of using ChexSystems, they use Telecheck to screen new members.

Currently, La Capitol offers five types of checking accounts: Choice Plus, Simple Plus, Choice, Simple, and Liquid Assets. The monthly fee is $8 unless you have a minimum balance of $1,000.

The fee can be waived if you have 10 or more ATM transactions a month and at least $500 directly deposited in your account every month.

Neighbors Federal Credit Union

Neighbors FCU uses Telecheck in lieu of ChexSystems when screening new applications. To join, you must live, work, worship or attend school in one of its nine participating parishes to be eligible.

The nine participating parishes include East Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee, Ascension, St. Helena, East Feliciana, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, West Feliciana, and Livingston.

Currently, Neighbors FCU has 12 branches and is also a part of a shared branch network. It has locations in Baton Rouge, West Denham Springs, Port Allen, Prairieville, Zachary and Walker, Louisiana.

Neighbors FCU has five checking account options for its members to choose from. Only one account has a monthly service fee, but it’s only $4.95 a month and comes with a variety of benefits, such as roadside-assistance and Identity theft protection.

New Orleans Firemen’s Federal Credit Union

New Orleans Firemen’s Federal uses Telecheck when screening new applicants. To become a new member, you must be current or retired New Orleans firefighters, be employed by a select employer, or live work, worship or attend school in a nearby area.

Accepted locations include St James Parish, Tangipahoa Parish, Plaquemines Parish, certain parts of New Orleans East area, and the City of Picayune.

New Orleans Firemen’s FCU offers several checking account options. Regardless of which account you choose, you’ll get free mobile and online banking, free bill pay, unlimited check writing, a free debit card, and no monthly service fee.

WESLA Federal Credit Union

WESLA Federal uses Telecheck instead of ChexSystems while screening new applications. Currently, WESLA has three branches and 16 ATM locations located throughout Shreveport, Louisiana.

To become a member, you must live, work or worship in Caddo or Bossier Parish and make a minimum deposit of $25 into a new savings account. $5 of the $25 is a one time fee, but the rest goes into your new savings account.

WESLA offers three types of checking accounts, but its free checking option doesn’t have any monthly service fees or minimum balance requirements.

Regardless of which account you choose, all members get a free debit card, unlimited check writing, overdraft protection, and ScoreCard Rewards.
